Context

Optima is a Mexican fashion brand seeking to position itself as the leading local alternative: accessible, reliable, and 100% nationally produced. Despite having a strong presence, the brand was mostly perceived as a basics provider and not as a true fashion option. Its mission is to highlight Mexican manufacturing and celebrate pride in wearing local clothing.

The
Challenge

Optima faced the perception of being just another basics brand, competing against international fast-fashion players like Zara, Pull&Bear, and Shein, which dominate the modern and affordable space. The challenge was to shift consumer mindset from “cheap basics” to “proud, accessible Mexican fashion,” while differentiating from outdated local competitors and standing out for quality and modernity.

Insight

Real fashion doesn’t have to be flashy or distant — it can be practical, accessible, and proudly Mexican. Everyday clothing can be something to feel proud of when it’s well-made, modern, and reflects local talent.

Strategy

Build the brand’s positioning around pride in Mexican manufacturing and everyday fashion that is accessible yet modern. Communicate Optima’s values through a three-phase campaign to gradually transform perception: from local and functional to modern, valuable, and emotionally relevant.

The Idea

“Optima. Vistiendo al México Real.” A platform that celebrates real life in Mexico: authentic, hard-working, and modern. Through messages that resist fast fashion and highlight pride, passion, and talent, Optima reframes basics as valuable and aspirational. The campaign unfolds in three phases:

1. Hecho en México (Launch), showcasing local craftsmanship and 100% Mexican production.

2. Así se siente lo Hecho en México (Amplification). Making consumers feel that wearing Optima is carrying Mexico with them: quality, local design, real comfort.

3. Combina Contigo (Sustainment). Showing how Optima adapts to everyone’s routine, personality, and budget while remaining proudly Mexican.

Results

Shift brand perception from “cheap basics” to “modern and proudly Mexican fashion.” Strengthen connection with both B2C audiences (consumers who seek accessible, trustworthy style) and B2B (wholesale buyers valuing local quality and availability). Increase brand awareness, loyalty, and average ticket size while positioning Óptima among modern, quality competitors.
